Gallete des Rois

The Galette des Rois is a cherished French tradition celebrating Epiphany, observed on January 6th. In France, this celebration extends well beyond a single day. Throughout January, families, friends, and colleagues gather to share Galette des Rois as a ritual of togetherness and lighthearted ceremony.

At Barbouzard, the galette is crafted from two layers of golden puff pastry filled with frangipane, a smooth almond cream scented with rum and vanilla. Hidden inside is a small figurine. By tradition, the youngest guest hides under the table and assigns each slice, ensuring fairness and chance. Whoever finds the fève is crowned King or Queen for the day and wears the paper crown provided.
